Here at Formula One we like to think that we offer not only the best products but also the best service in the business. We ensure that visitors to our showroom feel well informed and expertly guided through the decision-making process, and that support is carried through to our website visitors too.

Our ultimate guide to replacing your windows and doors contains information on all the things you’ll need to consider so that you can make an informed choice about your investment.

Why do you need new windows or doors?

There are a number of reasons why you might be looking to replace your windows or doors. We generally find that existing frames have deteriorated with age – seals may be broken, condensation is found between the panes of glass, openers no longer operate easily and the frames may have become brittle and cracked.

However, you may be looking to replace single glazing with thermally efficient double glazing, or you may be looking to change the appearance of your property with a modern design.

Whatever the reason, Formula One is on hand to guide you through the decision-making process.

What style will suit your home best?

When looking to replace such an important feature as the windows and doors at your property there are some important considerations to make.

  • Is your home modern or traditional in style?
  • What are properties in the surrounding area like?
  • What is the age of your property?
  • Does the style of window or door I think I like complement the style of my home?

The styles of window within the Formula One Range™ are varied – from casement to sash, tilt and turn to shaped. We can supply bay windows and will work closely with our customers to create the perfect look for a property.

Casement windows are versatile and stylish. Along with tilt and turn windows they are our most popular window choice offering customers stylish, long-lasting, low-maintenance windows of the highest quality.

Colour or white?

The explosion of colour on to the market has given homeowners another level of choice when it comes to replacing windows and doors at a property.

Classic white frames, timeless in appearance will always remain a popular choice, especially for those with a restricted budget. However, with a choice of colours now available we see many people opting to express individuality in their property, whilst still complementing other features of a building.

You will find a wide range of examples of the frame and door colours that we offer at the Formula One showroom in Donnington. Coupled with the expert advice available from our staff we know that we can help you make an informed decision about your choice of windows and doors.

What will affect the price?

As mentioned before, our classic white frames tend to be the most affordable product in the Formula One Range™. However there are a few other important aspects to consider that will affect the overall price of replacing your windows and doors.

  • Material – PVCu frames are generally the cheapest option. Other companies may also offer aluminium or timber frames, which will come with a higher price tag. Doors may be made from PVCu or Composite. Composite doors are more expensive than PVCu but come with a range of additional security and insulation benefits.
  • Colour – our choice of colour foil finished frames are slightly more expensive than plain white. However there are additional insulation benefits that come with foil finishes which could help to reduce heating bills.
  • Style – each window style comes with a range of options that will affect price, including the number of panes of glass you choose to have.
  • Size – some sizes of window are more common than others and may therefore be cheaper to manufacture.
  • Glazing – triple glazing is more costly than double, which in turn is more expensive than single glazing. Decorative glass including leaded will cost more than plain glass panels.
  • Openings – the more openings a window has, the more expensive it will be. There is also a choice of handle type e.g. white, chrome, gold.

How to make your choice!

Ultimately the best way to decide on replacement windows and doors for a property is to meet with an expert at the property itself. Discussions will be influenced by looking at each of the factors outlined above and all options will be clearly explained.

The Formula One sales team, which is headed up by Group Commercial Director Dean Crowther is passionate about matching the perfect products from the Formula One Range™ with each property.
